"These systems are gently coercive, and there is no Internet outside of them. The individual is simply obliged to engage via these “trusted third parties” for all communication." Castells, Another Economy Is Possible
"But the imbalance in information greatly redounds today to the benefit of those who manage firms, who invest significant sums in information systems, whereas unions can only organize sketchy and partially clandestine data collection." Chiapello, The New Spirit of Capitalism
"Note the irony that the word dope, used to designate the illegal drugs athletes take to improve performance, has the same root as dopamine." Taleb, The Black Swan
"do u feel attacked I exist within an endless, short term, dopamine driven feedback loop. This is my entire People think they’re political, but all they want is the dopamine hit they get from the way politics now works on our brains. It’s like opioid addicts saying the opioids themselves are unimportant they ‘only want the rush.’ Where did last year go?Why do increased dopamine hits make time’s passage feel shorter instead of longer?Everything feels either ten minutes ago or ten years ago. What happened to the middle? Constant online existence is making your perceived biological existence, in a very real sense, much shorter." Basar, The Extreme Self
One of the greatest paradoxes of life is that we do not seem to know (in an intuitive or very sophisticated way) what is good for us. Ever since the time of mankind’s first written memories, we have tried to search for meaning and for life—like Gilgamesh. And like him, we seem very often to fail.In pursuit of a happy life, eudaemonia, do we need to be egotistical and maximize our utility, or do we actually have to forget about ourselves, to “empty” ourselves, so to speak, and minimalize our life demands as the Stoics and other schools, teach us?Can happiness ever effectively be made a goal in life, or does it only come to us as a by product of some other, higher quest? Sedlacek, Economics of Good and Evil
"Without going so far as to declare the Internet as our new ground, it is the first attempt to create such a ground without anyone being able to claim ownership." Spuybroek, The Sympathy of Things:
"The Internet is not particularly modern or in any way related to space; on the contrary, it is a deeply Gothic project—not because the Web is about veins and fibers and the Gothic loves fibrous systems but because it interrelates work and aesthetics. In contrast to television, the Web is there to make things. Today it still acts chiefly as though it is part of media culture or, worse, visual culture—still part of that separation between talking about things and making things—but there is nothing inherent in its structure to make it do so; it is mere habit. On the contrary, when all mediation has evaporated, it could emerge as a distributed, generalized factory, like Schelling’s nature, a platform of productivity—pure abstraction that strives to produce real things." Spuybroek, The Sympathy of Things:
"If, says he, there is a Divine Providence, Good men would be happy, bad men miserable. *But it is not so. If the Gods had regarded mankind, they should have made them all virtuous; but if they did not regard the welfare of all mankind, at least they ought to have provided for the happiness of the virtuous." Cicero, Tusculan Disputations
"2010 Closed loop toilet: NASA's water recovery system recycles 93 percent of the liquids it receives, including urine and sweat, into drinking water. Boiling alone does not remove contaminates without gravity, so the keg sized distiller rotates as well as boiling, produce an artificial gravity field." Koolhaas, Elements of Architecture
"Whether through fear, disgust, anxiety or wonder, realizing vulnerability is rarely an easy matter; it is just as prone to set more troubling emotions into motion as it is to create comfortable relations." Braidotti Hlavajova, Posthuman Glossary
"And how many houses or streets does it take before a town begins to be a town? Our language can be seen as an ancient city: a maze of little streets and squares, of old and new houses, and of houses with additions from various periods; and this surrounded by a multitude of new boroughs with straight regular streets and uniform houses.” Buehlmann Hovestadt, Coding as Literacy

faith

Far have i travelled to find this place, about it is said, borders of the impossible dissapear and imagination comes reality. The times, when people kept knowledge hidden in chambers is long gone. There is astonishing diversity of information around me. This connected world seemes like paradise to me. I will finally solve that inscrutable quest, that myself is craving to reveal for so long.

It was the nature of existence and the purpose of life, that still keeps me awake. What is the existence for, how shall comport oneself to finally reach unity in all of us?

But a while ago, something has changed profoundly. It has not been so dark since decades. Like a mean-spirited shadow is laying over my body and soul i cannot see its face.

There is a sudden feeling, that something is missing. Despite a profound maze of books and information inviting me to deepen my knowledge about a world in peace, union seems more far away, than ever before. I sense chaos. Chaos and no sense of origin and purpose. Time has lost its value and appreciation. They let it pass reckless and indiscriminately. They do abuse and disregard time. In a world, that can shine so beautifully transparent, in which we can see and soon touch the spirit of each other, it seems logical to me, we finally can hold on, see clearly and feel safe enough so one can show its light and shadow concurrently. Realizing vulnerability is rarely an easy matter (9), but it feels like someone does not want us to show our inner world.

Fire is associated with creativity, passion, and transformation. Concepts require creative thinking and the ability to transform abstract ideas into tangible forms.

Air is associated with communication, intelligence, and the power of the mind. Technology often involves the use of electronic communication and requires intelligence and mental focus.
Water is associated with emotions, intuition, and sensitivity. Emotions are often seen as fluid and changing like water, and can be deep and powerful like an ocean
Earth
is associated with stability, groundedness, and practicality. Cognition involves the processing of information and the application of knowledge, which requires a stable and grounded approach.

DR: `Mr Baskerville, how do you feel today?`

WILLIAM: Hm. I felt great this morning Dr.

DR: `Oh, that is beatiful to hear!, what have you done untill now?

WILLIAM: I took classes on metaphysics by a wonderful copy of aristoteles and a seminar about prediction by a programmer of 11 year old. Gorgeous, those young minds. In one hour, he teached me more about my behaviour, than 100 years of repeating psalms.

DR: `what can you tell me about predictions, mr. Baskerville?`

WILLIAM: Well, you know - it is all a matter of how many data you have to exploit. it is surprisingly easy to tell, how one will decide about whatsoever. since we have that amount of people, using their devices constantly, you just need to ask the right question and let search for the right data. if you want to live long, you look for those who do so, and imitate their lifes.
If you like to get smart, you follow those who are, and if you want to be wise, you ask google. I dont need to fill my old brain no more with dusty books! We are free.

DR: `Mr Baskerville, you seem very lighthearted today. I wonder, if you took the right medication?

WILLIAM: Yes, Dr. All of it.

DR: `Good Morning Mr Baskerville,`

WILLIAM: Good morning,

DR: `Wow do you feel today?`

WILLIAM: what do you mean, by today? there is no today, nor yesterday. you did not realize yet, dont you?

DR: `Mr Baskerville, i see, you feel confused today`.

WILLIAM: You are wrong, I have a clear mind. They make us believe tomorrow is another day, so we go to their places again, and again, and again. So they read us, and take every single choice from us. This system is gently coercive, and there is no world outside of it. You and me are simply obliged to engage with these trusted third parties. But it is a loop, we can only escape from, if we delete his footprint. This is why everything feels either ten seconds or ten years ago. What happened to the middle? Where is the threshold between your perception and your devotion? Can you tell?

DR: `Mr. Baskerville, I do understand, how frightend this must be for you. Please remember, that this hallucination is a part of you illness. And you know how to challenge it. You made it before. You can do it again.

WILLIAM: They control my life, I dont get it back.

DR: `May I invite you to deeply focus on your breath for a while. Mr. Baskerville. When you entered my practice some years ago, you had those incredibly sharp view on the processes in the world. You told me, that time has in some cases changed its value in a bad way. And you know what, I do still agree with you. But it is about you and me, to define that value right now. I enjoy the conversation with you. How does that feel, to know?

WILLIAM: I also enjoy your presence, Dr.

DR: `So what would you say, if we let this moment last for a while Mr Baskerville? Take your time. as long as you need.
DR: `Good morning Mr. Baskerville, how are you feeling today?

WILLIAM: I woke up having mixed feelings, Dr.

DR: `Oh that sounds quite vigilant! I like to hear who is having a chat there, inside of you.

WILLIAM: I woke up today and remembered me riddling: if In pursuit of a happy life, do we need to be egotistical, or do we actually have to forget about ourselves? Or is it none of the above, and the greatest paradox of life forever remains: and we will never know, what is good for us?

Then i hold on, took a breath and looked inside. I felt alone but serenly connected at once. Not the impulse of finding out, nor the coldness of nescience seemed to bother my comfort.
It was easy for the moment to not know, who i am, and still pleasant to find out what i might become.

DR: `Mr. Baskerville, I am deeply moved by your words.
Yoon, Pungsu
"The merciful dragon is seen as a god of the sky or its substitute (the king or emperor). In the Eastern world, a dragon is a being in the sky that does good deeds. However, in the Western world, it becomes chthonic, destructive, and evil. A dragon is just like sulfur or mercury in alchemy, in that it neutralizes opposite poles.Uroboros, which is a dragon biting its own tail, means undeveloped nature. In the Eastern world, a dragon has many meanings, but most of them are positive and creative. Also, a dragon holds everything in itself—water, land, and even the underworld.31 This means a dragon is an unrevealed, undifferentiated being that represents potential, untamed nature, many life elements, Uroboros, and prima materia of alchemy. Therefore, from a geomantic perspective, a dragon holds the idea of bringing energy to the auspicious place."
